Art
This is just one of the few pieces at the show I went to last night.

Unrelated Update
This is somewhat unrelated to art but I just wanted to write anyway.
I had a great birthday. Probably the best one as an adult.
It was simple but fun, just what an old woman like me needs. :-)
A gathering with friends, drinks and dinner with the man.

I was reading my google page and found this quote on love:
I love you. It's not a weight you must carry around. I love you. It's not a box that holds you in. I love you. It's not a standard you have to bear. I love you. It's not a sacrifice I make. I love you. It's not a pedestal you are frozen upon. I love you. It's not an expectation of perfection. I love you. It's not my life's whole purpose (or your's). I love you. It's not to make you change. I love you. It's not even to make you love me. I love you. It's as pure and simple as that.

MailArt

So, these are the mail art collage pieces I have for trade or just to give out. No one has contacted me yet but I'm going to keep making them whenever the mood strikes.
The one on the far right is my favorite.
It's true
I could search & buy cute/ironic/funny little buttons all day.
I just got this one from a Etsy store.

Look over to your right and do some clickin'!
I'm working on some Christmas and Kwanzaa items now.
Ray Johnson

I just watched How to Draw a Bunny two nights ago. This is a documentary on the artist Ray Johnson, the founder of the New York Correspondence School. Unfortunately, I've been feeling a little blah and couldn't really get my emotions out onto the canvas. By the end of my Saturday night, I did one very sad (as in not good) collage. This was before I watched the documentary.
I love discovering "new" artists because they help me approach the art in a different way and let myself just go.
I thought about some of the things that were bothering me and wrote about four sentences onto paper. I haven't found the images but I have found the words. So, I feel good about that.
I love mail. Real live mail- paper, stamps, pens & all that. So, be on the look out for my mail art. I love the idea and now, having to know a little about the innovator of mail art, I have a bit of inspiration.
If anyone wants to send me some, I'd be happy to receive and reciprocate. Just email me.

Item# 30186775493
I am promoting it for the Dios Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) holiday but I thinks its just a cool piece of art to have around at all times.
It measures at about 6x7 inches on wood.
The wood was primed with gesso before I added the acrylic paints. The eyes are made from green glitter as well as a bit of yellow glitter on the teeth.
I am very proud of this one.
